The team losing in the final round of qualifying shall receive 25 ranking points. Any athlete qualifying on a Continental Qualification place needs to be ranked in the ATP or WTA Top 300, and must also take into account the National Olympic Committee’s (NOC) quota of four singles players per country. Gold medallist/Grand Slam champion.

A player’s ranking for singles is based off their best 16 tournaments and best 11 tournaments for doubles. To have a WTA ranking, players must have WTA ranking points from 3 tournaments or a total of 10 WTA ranking points

A small number of players, often local, will be admitted by means of ‘wild cards’ awarded by the organizers. Finally, there will be a separate ‘qualifying’ draw for the lower-ranked players, and competitors who win two or three rounds in this will also get a place in the main draw.
